Model United Nations (MUN)
Meetings begin in January

The California Youth and Government Model United Nations is a program for 6th,7th, and 8th graders from throughout the state that gives student delegates a chance to engage in international issues, discover other cultures, make friends, and have fun.

This four-month program culminates at the beginning of April when delagates from around the state meet in Visalia, California to establsih their own student-run United Nations.

By attending weekly meetings at your La Jolla YMCA with adult advisors, you will be able to choose a country, then become an expert on its issues so that you can represent it well in Visalia.

You get to:

  • Write Resolutions
  • Give Speeches
  • Learn about the World
  • Make New Friends
  • Speak Your Mind
  • Participate in Great Social Events and Dances

YMCA Youth & Government involves
more than 2,000 high school freshmans, sophomores, juniors and seniors throughout California. Delegates learn
first hand how our state government
works by being actively involved; this

model statewide government is run
entirely by the students. No worries if
you are unfamiliar with government!
This program has a place for everyone.

Youth & Government conferences are
high energy events and include:
dances, elections, talent shows, learning, and socializing. Youth & Government is more than just an awesome time with

high school students from all over California. It is leadership, new friends
and a personal learning experience.

This program includes weekly meetings
and three weekend conferences.
