Induction Event
There is so much to do at Indian Hills Camp. Kids can enjoy the playground, obstacle course, BMX bicycle park, archery, a gold mine, zip line and more. We will be holding our traditional induction campfire where Guides and Princess leaders are inducted and new members are welcomed. There will be a BBQ provided serving hamburgers, hotdogs, chips and drinks.

When: October 18, 2008

Directions: Take 94 east into Rancho San Diego (from I-5 or I-805).At the third street light turn right to stay on 94 east bound. Go 5.5 miles and turn left on Lyons Valley Rd. Go 1.5 miles to the first stop sign. At the stop sign, the name changes to Skyline Truck Trail. Go straight on Skyline T.T. for 2.3 miles. Turn right on Lawson Valley Rd. and go 1/4 mile. Make a sharp left back onto Lyons Valley Rd. We are one mile on the right.

Holiday Parade
Annually, the Adventure Guides join the festivities in the La Jolla Christmas Parade. It's a great way to kick off the holiday season! This event is held the first Sunday in December. The parade is a great event for kids to feel a sense of community! Each child and father are encouraged to create and wear the craziest hat you can think up. We will be marching the streets in our crazy hats carrying circle banners and flags.

Directions: We will be meeting on Herschel Ave, just west of Kline St. Look for the Adventure Guides banner. Please meet no later than 1:00 pm. Be sure to bring your vest, T-shirt, and Circle banner or flag.


Ice Skating
Spend a day gliding along the ice with grace of movement in the company of good friends. Be sure to share in the laughs when things don't go that smooth. Dads, daughters and sons will come together to enjoy each others' company at Ice Town in the UTC mall for an open ice skating session.

Directions: We will be meeting at the ice rink ticket booth at 1:15pm. The rink is located in the food court area of the UTC mall.


Hula Bowling

The bowling event is a kid favorite! Be sure to arrive in your hawaiian shirts and grass skirts. For two hours the Nation takes over Kearny Mesa Bowl to enjoy friends, family, and fun. Bumpers are provided so the kids (and dads) will always hit pins. Prizes will be awarded for the highest scores.

Directions: Get on Highway 52 traveling east from La Jolla. Exit Convoy Avenue, turn right. Follow Convoy Ave until you reach Clairemont Mesa Blvd., turn right. Kearny Mesa Bowl will be on your left hand side.


Winter Camp

You won't see snow in San Diego, but a brief drive will take you to the Winter Wonderland. Give the kids a chance to build a snowman, ride a sled, or even cruise the mountain on skis. Join the Adventure Guides at Big Bear Lake for an assortment of winter activities. Don't forget to bundle up!

You can make your ski/snowboard reservations through the La Jolla YMCA. Complete the order form and turn it in with your registration

Where: Big Bear Presbyterian Conference Center

When: February 20-22, 2009

Directions: 15 North to 215 North to 10 East. Follow 10 freeway North (toward San Bernardino Mountains) and exit onto Highway 330 to Mountain Resorts/ Running Springs. Highway 330 becomes Highway 18. Stay on 18 for 17 miles to Big Bear Dam. Follow road through Boulder Bay community. at far end of Boulder Bay, watch for Presbyterian Camp and Conference sign on your left. Turn left onto driveway and follow 1/4 mile to the main lodge.


Desert Camp - Palm Canyon

Fiesta Island Campout

Spend the weekend on Fiesta Island biking, hiking, boating, playing games and spending time with dad and grandad! We have rented row boats, kayaks, canoes and sailboats on Saturday. Camp easy to get to and there will be a Nation Campfire on both Friday night and Saturday night at this campout in the ampitheater.

Mountain Campout

Spend the weekend out in nature and enjoy the beauty of the San Jacinto mountains. Join a nature hike, fish in the stocked trout pond, or try your hand at horseback riding. There will also be a Nation Campfire at this campout.

Pine Car Derby

The Annual Adventure Guides race car competition! Dads and kids get together as race teams to WOW the crowd with their masterful design and construction of these miniature race cars. Our state of the art track should make for some real fast times. All race teams and spectators will enjoy a BBQ lunch. Award presentations will be made to congratulate the fine craftsmanship by the racers! We will also vote on the Catalina T-shirt design.

What: We will turn our facility into a real life race track to show off the model cars we create and race them for speed.

Catalina Campout

Many consider this the most exciting event of the year in the Adventure Guides program. Spend a wonderful weekend on beautiful Catalina Island tent camping at Two Harbors Campground. The fun starts with an adventurous boat ride through the Pacific Ocean. Once we hit shore, activities include kayaking, snorkeling, swimming, hiking and enjoying scenic Two Harbors. Give your child a taste of "roughing it" while exploring some of the most beautiful landscape California has to offer.

Where: Leaving Long Beach, and Camping at Two Harbors Campground on Catalina Island.

When: Departing Boat: Friday, July 17
Returning Boat: Sunday, July 19

Directions: Pierpoint Landing, 200 Aquarium Way, Long Beach, CA 90708

From the 405 North, take the 710 FWY South towards Downtown Long Beach, follow the signs to the Aquarium. The 710 becomes Shoreline Dr., turn right on Aquarium Way. On Aquarium Way when road splits stay to the left (following the road along the side of the Aquarium). At the stop sign turn left into the outdoor parking lot. Pierpoint Landing (green building) is located at the far end of the parking lot. Passenger loading and offloading is available at Pierpoint Landing. Parking available in Aquarium parking structure.


Beach Camp

Enjoy a weekend on the sand and in the water at Del Mar Beach on Camp Pendleton. There's no experience like camping on the beach! Those who attend this event will be spoiled with catered meals. Any family interested in joining the program may participate in this campout, giving potential Adventure Guides the opportunity to see how the program is run before deciding whether to join.

Guides

(father/son) K-4th Graders

Description:Father and son will participate together as a unit in various activities and projects. We offer activities geared towards developing a sense of personal worth within the family and community; how to feel responsible for tasks, and derive satisfaction from physical skill development; to accept and value each person for himself or herself under the guidance of dad.

Princesses

(father/daughter) K-4th Graders

Description: Father and daughter will share one on one time in a variety of outings and events. We offer activities intended for parent and child to work and learn together accomplishing goals and having fun. The program aims to derive satisfaction from physical challenges and to participate in social settings, appreciating individual and group achievements.
